WSET’s Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner – to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.

Course Objective
This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

Pass Rate

The pass rate for the Level 2 Award in Wines was 93%. We are pleased with the speed with which APPs have familiarised themselves with the new Specification and the enthusiastic feedback we have received on the new materials and strong pass rate suggests this has been a positive transition for students. On the whole candidates are performing well across the syllabus of Level 2 Wines. Those who study the course materials in depth across the full range of Learning Outcomes have every chance of success.

COURSE DELIVERY

  • At least 28 hours of study time required by WSET, we deliver 3 days at least 18 hours of classroom study time
  • The classroom study requires full attendance of 3 days, we provide ONLY successional day course
  • 11 hours of personal study and revision
  • A 1-hour examination

 

Assessment

A one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.

On successful completion of the examination, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

 

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. You must be of legal drinking age in the country where you are attending the course to participate in any alcohol tasting.
